WINNER – 2020 AUSTRALIAN ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE AWARDS

SEA are delighted to announce that they’ve been recognised as a winner in the 2020 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards for their role in the Balticconnector Offshore Pipeline Project!

SEA’s scope of work was the detailed design of the offshore pipeline, procurement and subsequent construction support. SEA retains an ongoing role supporting the pipeline’s operations after the project was successfully delivered on time, on budget and without incident. The Balticconnector Offshore Pipeline project is an example of SEA’s ability to use their in-house engineering automation technology to compete for global engineering projects from Perth, achieving export of local expertise despite challenging market conditions and international competition.

With this award, the panel of industry experts have recognised SEA’s excellence at both project delivery and design engineering. The incident-free on-time delivery of the Balticconnector Offshore Pipeline Project relied on SEA’s broad skillsets in project engineering, contract and commercial support, automated engineering analysis and in-depth knowledge of pipeline systems, materials and installation. Having commenced design work in February 2017, SEA’s team contributed expertise and direct design effort to guide the project from the beginning of detailed design through procurement, installation and commissioning and ultimately achieve commencement of operations on schedule in December 2019.

SEA congratulates the other finalists and winners from the Western Australian division, and to Rio Tinto’s rail engineering team in particular for their AutoHaul project, which will be representing Western Australia as a finalist for the national Sir William Hudson Award.

SEA welcomes Malcolm Reeson (hyperlink) to the Perth team, in a new role as the Front End Consulting Manager.

Malcolm brings a wealth of regional experience in navigating the critical decisions during front-end and concept phase studies. This is a natural complement to SEA’s expertise with automated engineering using the ICE Platform to improve decision confidence and quantify the impact of uncertainty. A week in and already busy on multiple projects, Malcolm will help to position SEA for further growth in the Front End space and provide a valuable sounding board across all project phases.

For more information about SEA’s capabilities and how the ICE Platform can transform how you approach engineering problems please get in touch.
